it's been awhile.....

So it has been awhile since I last updated my blog. Preston and I went to Minnesota and Nauvoo last month for about 2 weeks and since then I guess you could say I have just been pretty lazy. We had tons of fun on our trip, but it was kinda long without Daddy. My whole side of the family was there. It was fun to see all the kids and spend so much time together. All of Preston's cousins loved seeing him and playing with him. He was never left alone without someone "taking care" of him. Everyone helped me with Preston alot while I was there, his cousin Cheyenne was always willing to help me and let me rest. We were in Minnesota a couple days before we actually went to Nauvoo and of course when we got to Nauvoo, Preston had a fever for a few days and was just not a very happy boy. I thought he was just teething, but then some of my nieces started to get a fever as well, so then I felt bad. We still all had a wonderful time. It was fun to see how they lived in Nauvoo back then and to see all the buildings. The pageant was Awesome! We also got to go to Carthage Jail, I think that was my favorite place. And yes I cried....it was pretty crazy to be standing in the same house that Joseph Smith died in. You could feel the spirit and it really made my testimony of our Prophet Joseph Smith grow so much. I'm thankful for all that he did and for all the people who helped them.

Here are some pictures from our trip. (now that its been a month)

Bear Lake 2008

This last weekend we went to Bear Lake. Every year Ryan's family usually goes to Lava Hot Springs in Idaho, but this year it was all full, so we went to Bear Lake instead. I was a little nervous about taking a one year old camping, I figured we would all just be chasing Preston around all day everyday, and well we did. He was just so excited to be outside and Preston was very curious about everything. He loves tires on cars, boat trailers, the boat, camping chairs, anything he wasnt supposed to get, everyone else's treats, and most of all he loved the dirt...and that includes eating the dirt. When we were on the beach he loved playing in the sand and mud, but he always had to taste it by taking a big mouth full or licking his fingers. You can also tell that Preston is totally a boy, his knees and legs are all scraped up from falling and running, but he just gets back up and keeps on going. We only had one little accident while at Bear lake. Preston was playing by someones boat trailer and fell and hit his mouth on the metal. At first I just picked him up and was holding him and then he came off my shoulder and blood was just running out his mouth. It freaked me out so bad!! He cut his upper lip inside by his gums. It just kept bleeding and bleeding. I was so scared that he had busted his front teeth, but luckily he didnt. Preston also loved riding on the boat and so did Mommy and Daddy because Preston would fall asleep within 5 minutes of riding on the boat. When he was awake he did love to see the water and get splashed and he LOVED sitting in Daddy's lap and help drive the boat. I was also worried about Preston sleeping at night. He obviously didnt really get good naps, unless he was on the boat for about an hour. We slept in a camper and thought that a playpen would fit, but it didnt, so Preston had to sleep with Mommy and Daddy, well yeah didnt quite work out so well. The first night he was up until 4:00am and then the next 2 nights he did better, but then Mommy couldnt sleep because Preston insisted on scooting up by mom as close as he could and I was already right next to Ryan pretty much pushing him off the bed. So needless to say we were all ready for our own beds and a good nights sleep when we got home. I felt really bad because I thought I did pretty good with re-applying sunscreen on Preston but the last day we were there I guess it wasnt enough, because his lttle face was red and his eyes were so sleepy and red. Its turned into a little tan now, but I felt pretty bad. We all got sunburned somewhere, but not too bad. The worst part was being so sore from attempting to wakeboard and water ski. Ryan wakeboarded a couple times but was really sore afterwards and I gave up on trying to wakeboard so I water skied, which I'm pretty proud of myself for doing. Ryan said I did really good. It was fun!! (i'll post those pictures later) Harlee and Gentri were so busy with their cousins we hardly saw them. They love boating and hanging out on the beach building castles and burying each other. They were tons of help with Preston! We had a fun weekend and it was nice to spend some fun time with the girls, Ryan and Preston! It was also fun to see my cousins that are family friends with Ryans family. I got to see my Aunt Sandy and Uncle Duane and some of their kids. Colyn and Cassie and their kids, Krista and Steve and their kids and then Jolayne who is my age was there. It was fun to see them and all their little kids. And now its time for Mommy and Preston to get packed and ready to go to Minnesota and Nauvoo. I'll post tons of pictures when I get back from that trip!

Busy, Busy, Busy....

I have been pretty busy lately...for those of you who don't know, I just started a new at-home business. It's called BeautiControl. I do little private spa makeovers on people and sell my product. BeautiControl focuses a lot on skin care for all ages, but they do also sell make-up. They have awesome masques, foot cremes, lotions and most of all my favorite- a Microderm Abrasion set!! I love it and hope one day that I will be able to quit Home Depot! That was one of the main reasons for starting, other than that I get to work from home. But right now working both, keeps me busy and a little stressed out. If you want to see and learn more about BeautiControl, you can go to my website at www.beautipage.com/mindiwendel If you have any questions or want to set up an appt. for a complimentary spa makeover just let me know. Its way fun and relaxing!!

Anyways....Preston has been a little cranky lately. He had farengitis (have no idea how to spell it) and he is finally getting more teeth. AND he is also getting pretty mean... The other day he was pulling my hair and I was telling him "No" and so then he just smacked and swatted at my face. Well then his daddy looked up to see what was going on and Preston swatted me again, but this time Daddy thought it was hilarious and turned away cuz he was laughing so hard. It's so hard to discipline a little kid when at the same time both parents are laughing, cuz then Preston thought it was funny and started laughing too. He also has this really loud scream that is about to drive Mommy and Daddy crazy. He screams whenever he doesnt get what he wants or when he just wants attention. But he still is the fun, silly, funny, loving, laughing little boy as well. He still continutes to do something new everyday that makes me laugh so hard. Including his new fake laugh, if he sees someone else laughing he starts laughing too, but its sounds so fake which makes us laugh even more. He is very much a "mamma's boy", he is so precious and loving and always gives hugs. Throughtout the day he always just comes running up to me and lays his head on me and gives me a hug. I LOVE IT!! He is becoming really shy when he first sees new people, he latches on to Mommy as tight as he can and buries his head. He LOVES LOVES being outside and always walks to the front door and points....and then screams when we dont go outside. He loves to carry those two balls around with him EVERYWHERE. He thinks its so funny when Mommy throws the balls high in the air and they fall down and he can run to get them. Keeps him busy for hours! I try to take him outside as much as I can, but sometimes it gets a little too hot for Mom. I have more fun things we have done lately and will post them soon.
Oh yeah...Preston got his 6th haircut at 14 months old! Crazy hair grows super fast!!

Family Pictures

For the first time since we have been married we took some family pictures. We have taken some just out in our front yard, but nothing to great. Ryan's cousins take really awesome pictures, so we had his cousin Rachel take ours on sunday out at Ryan's parents house. I think they turned out so good. We were also planning on taking Preston's one-year pictures too, but he just wasn't very smiley that day. We still got some cute ones though, just not with his huge smile.
I am determined to get them printed, framed, and hung up in the living room. My other framed pictures of the kids are just sitting on the couch, but this time I'm gonna hang them. (If anyone has any cute ideas on how to hang 4 pictures let me know.)

Summertime....Finally!

Well, its finally warm enough to go outside and play. Since we don't have a backyard yet, we just play in the front yard. Hopefully soon we will have grass in the backyard, I would much rather play back there than in the front. Preston loves to play outside. He gets so excited when we walk to the front door and I unlock it. Or when I get my purse and keys, he runs to the garage door and waits for me.

When we went out the other day, he would walk to the very edge of the concrete and stop when he got to the grass. He wouldnt walk on the grass and when I would set him on the grass, he would just stand there and not move. When he would sit on the grass, Preston would lean back so that his legs weren't touching the grass. It was so funny! You can kind of tell in these pictures. After awhile he got better and just started playing and pulling at the grass. Oh and eating the grass too. He thinks its hilarious when mommy throws a ball up in the air and lets it fall. He also loves to sit and watch all the cars and big trucks drive down the street.

I'm excited its finally warm and we can get out of the house to play. I want to buy him a little inflatable pool for our deck. He loves to be in the water and I think he would love it.

"Pweston" was tagged by his cute cousin Brynlie

Preston's cousin Brynlie tagged him. So here are 5 things about baby Preston.

1. He likes to scream at mom. He swats at mom and gets very angry when he doesn't get what he wants, this includes mom's cellphone and the remote to the tv. Those are his two favorite things. We have even given him my old cell phone to play with, but its not good enough.

2. Even though he likes to scream, he is also such a funny little boy. He loves to laugh and be silly. He likes to walk around making silly noises and close his eyes while he's walking. He makes this silly smacking noise with his tounge and sometimes when he laughs, he snorts. Ha Ha!! He also loves when his big sister Gentri chases him. He could do that for hours and laugh his head off!

3. Preston's cousin Taylin recently gave him her play kitchen and play food. He LOVES it!! He plays with it ALL day, every day! (his daddy says play kitchens are for girls, but I guess he was wrong) He loves opening and closing the doors on the play kicthen. He constantly brings food to mommy and daddy.

4. Preston loves Go-gurt of any kind and milk. At first he wasn't drinking milk very well, but now he loves it! He also loves goldfish (even in the car and he doesnt throw up), cookies, ritz crackers, and he always knows when mommy and daddy have ice cream and he loves it too.

5. Little boy also loves being outside. Although at first, he was afraid to sit or walk on the grass, he is getting better. He likes going to the park and swinging and just going for walks. He also likes to swim and be in the water. Soon, mommy is going to get a little pool to put on the deck.

Preston is such a good, happy, silly, fun, loving little boy. He is a little momma's boy, but he still loves being with his daddy and hanging out with him when mommy is at work. We love him so much!!
